*_EVENTS_
**MARCH 5: Sustainability Town Hall/ NMSEA Los Alamos Chapter Meeting*
8am-12pm at Crossroads Bible Church (97 East Road)
This Town Hall is being organized by the County, and is your chance to
let the local government hear your views on sustainability. I know you
have them. Energy, water, food, transportation, forests, air, trails…
these are but a few of the sustainability topics you can bring to this
meeting. You will be able to ask questions of the County, as well.
Tom Nagawiecki, the County’s Environmental Services Specialist, is a
good person, and he will be taking notes to pass on to the Council. I
urge you to attend and let the County know that we care passionately
about sustainability in a myriad of forms.
/The County has focused on sustainability for several years, with a
strong push coming in 2005 with the adoption of “enhance environmental
quality and sustainability” as one of the County Council six core
strategic goals. In response to this goal, County staff launched the
Environmental Sustainability Initiative in 2008, which narrowed the
broad concept of sustainability to focus areas important to our local
community. After two years of action it is time to take a step back,
analyze our progress, and reexamine our plans for the future./
/On the behalf of the County Council and the Environmental
Sustainability Board, we would welcome your involvement in this process
by sharing your thoughts and ideas, and learning about current efforts
at this Sustainability Town Hall. As the County moves forward with its
effort to create our sustainable future we want to be sure we are
creating a community that can be enjoyed by current and future
generations. /
