/NMSEA will staff a table during The Festival of the Cranes event with
literature, a solar oven for baking cookies, and solar fountains & we
need your help!
The Festival begins on Tuesday, November 16th and lasts through Sunday,
November 21nd (with presumably most traffic Friday evening through the
weekend). */We are particularly in need of volunteer efforts to help

**For the 23nd year, the City of Socorro, NM and the Bosque del Apache
NWR will celebrate the return of the cranes with this popular and
acclaimed Festival.
Over 100 lectures, workshops, tours, hikes and hands-on activities are
planned, ranging from the popular Sandhill Crane Behavior to special
photography tours to socializing with locals on the Plaza. 2010 promises
to be one of the best years yet, and we look forward to seeing you there!

The U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE's) Biomass Program is hosting a
Webinar entitled "Advanced Biofuels Research Pathways."
This Web conference is the second installment in the Biomass Program's
Webinar series, which will cover many of the program's activities and
feature "Hot Topics" discussions relevant to the development of
renewable fuels, power, and products from biomass resources.
This Webinar will feature an overview of the program's ongoing advanced
biofuels research and will include presentations on biochemical and
thermochemical conversions. This session will also discuss the progress
the National Advanced Biofuels Consortium (NABC) is making in research,
development, and demonstration of process technology strategies to
convert biomass feedstock into a form that can be used in a petroleum
refinery. These new and innovative approaches can advance the
commercialization and adoption of advanced biofuels.

*NOVEMBER 20**: "FLASH FLOOD for a Living River" Public Art
Demonstration - /Santa Fe, NM/
*
Community institutions and activists are gearing up for a series of
workshops and events in support of the upcoming “FLASH FLOOD for a
Living River" action.
3,000+ community members will carry and flip blue-painted recycled
cardboard to compose a simulated FLASH FLOOD in the dry bed of the Santa
Fe River, which has been designated as one of America’s most endangered
rivers.
The Santa Fe Art Institute is coordinating the New Mexico project, one
of five U.S. sites out of 20 global locations to conduct this art action
and aerial design, which will be visible and documented from outer space
via satellite.
The FLASH FLOOD demonstration will be broadcast worldwide, alongside19
other global aerial designs as part of the Cancun Climate Change Summit,
November 29 – December 10, 2010.

*DECEMBER 2-3**: GRI Certification in Sustainability Reporting 2-Day
Training Course - /Albuquerque, NM/*
The GRI Certification Training Course, held at the Hotel Andaluz in
Albuquerque, is designed to equip sustainability professionals with the
certification and skills needed to evaluate and communicate the
sustainability performance of organizations.
The course is co-hosted by ISOS Group, a Global Reporting Initiative
Certified Training Partner in the US, and Concept Green, a local
woman-owned sustainability services firm and Collaborating GRI Training
Partner of ISOS Group, with outreach assistance from the University of
New Mexico's Sustainability Studies Program.
The GRI Training Course includes two days of certification training,
meals, instructional materials and bonus presentations by regional
sustainability thought leaders. GRI sustainability reporting standards
are the world’s generally accepted reporting principles used by
organizations to disclose their economic, social and environmental
