**FYI: Job Opening Director of Silver City/Grant County Office of
Sustainability*
The Town of Silver City is accepting applications for Sustainability
Director. This position will be responsible for supervising the
coordination and implementation of the Town and County Energy Efficiency
Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) awards. Responsible for recommending
hiring, and for training and supervising Office of Sustainability staff;
establishing and organizing the Office of Sustainability, which will
address energy conservation needs at commercial, residential, municipal
and county facility levels and will work with area nonprofits to
coordinate and oversee public education activities. The Office will act
as a catalyst, in coordination with the Mayor's Climate Protection
Citizens Advisory Committee, in the development of green jobs, training
with university, local government and economic development entities.
Will coordinate local training and capacity building around energy
efficiency/conservation and renewable energy. Will utilize consultation
and collaborative team process to guide and assist the incorporation of
sustainability principles and practices into municipal and county
operations.

*FEB 17: Deadline for SunPaper Ads & Articles
**Friday, Wednesday February 17th* is the deadline for new advertising
and for any article or NMSEA Chapter news that you would like to submit
for the March/April 2010 issue of the SunPaper. NMSEA gives priority to
articles on solar energy, but any topic related to renewable energy
systems and sustainability is welcome.

edited depending on space availability.

*FEB 26: Deadline for Green New Mexico Homes for Green Built Tour in June**
**USGBC-New Mexico Chapter is now accepting application for homes
certified under Build New Mexico or the LEED for Homes rating systems.
The tour will feature new construction and renovations with exceptional
green features or innovative materials and techniques. Homes using
passive and/or solar design and technology, sustainable design and
construction, new and different alternative building envelopes and/or
unique innovative and comprehensive green features are welcome.
Application fees: $15 for renovated/innovative home; $25 for new
construction. An additional $250 fee will be charged to industry
professionals submitting homes.*

*FEB 17: Santa Fe NMSEA Chapter Meeting -- Santa Fe, NM**
*Wed. 6:30 pm: Main Santa Fe Library -- Downtown
Topic: "Santa Fe Community College's Role in Training Renewable Energy
Specialists" with Randy Grisson. Director of the Sustainable
Technologies Center at SFCC
SFCC is becoming a major force in the training of renewable energy
specialists.
Also he will be talking about the new training center that has broken
ground and is expected to be used first semester this fall.
The first part of the meeting is for a question--answer portion. We all
have questions so bring yours. From simple how does passive solar work
to how do we use phase change materials? There should be someone there
with at least a partial answer.

*FEB 19:* *SW Chapter of the NM Green Chamber of Commerce -- Silver
City, NM *
Friday 5-6:30 pm
The Southwest Chapter of the NM Green Chamber of Commerce is holding its
first membership-wide (and potential member-wide) event on Friday,
February 19, from 5-6:30 p.m. at Isaac's on the corner of Broadway &
Bullard in downtown Silver City. The group will meet in the back room of
the restaurant. The Green Chamber will have a short presentation on the
current projects it is initiating, as well as a wrap-up overview of
accomplishments during the current legislative session. You'll have the
opportunity to meet others interested and active in the Green Chamber,
and chat with people about your own wonderful business!
